Embroidery software is software that helps users create embroidery designs. While a large majority of embroidery software is specific to machine embroidery, there is also software available for use with hand embroidery, such as cross-stitch.

Embroidermodder is a free machine embroidery software program. The newest version, Embroidermodder 2 can: edit and create embroidery designs; estimate the amount of thread and machine time needed to stitch a design; convert embroidery files to a variety of formats; upscale or downscale designs; run on Windows, Mac and Linux. And it supports split design. That’s when the embroidery design is larger than your hoops, so you need to split the design over a few hoops. They also have a software app called Acusetter to ensure that you’re lining up the embroidery design correctly on your project. V5 is based on CorelDraw. It’s compatible on Windows and Mac.
